A big part of meditation involves simplicity, letting go, and even asceticism on some level, so might seems counterintuitive to talk about needing gear to practice. While it is certainly possible to meditate without any special equipment, there are a few things every meditation practitioner should have.

I’m from Philadelphia, and I’m a lifelong Eagles and Phillies fan. I’m also a Buddhist vegetarian with a daily Mindfulness and Metta meditation practice. Would it surprise you to learn that this is an action that I support — not despite — but _because_ of my perspective as a Buddhist NFL fan?

Generally speaking, there are two types of Buddha statues, representing two completely different people. In the Western world, they are often confused, probably because the term “Buddha” can be used to refer to either of them. The difference, though, is that one of them is the Buddha, and the other is a Buddha.

It may seem hard to believe, but by paying attention to your breath as a part of daily mindfulness meditation practice, you can begin to develop an incredibly deep, rich level of understanding and insight into your own mind. This has the potential to be incredibly beneficial, allowing you to more deeply connect with the jumble of processes that make up the concept of your identity. Over time, you will become more mindful, more effective, and less caught by emotions.
