In the past, you have always kept your wish-list private and unsearchable, sending links out only to friends or family members who ask. Even then, hesitantly. When a visitor emailed you regarding a donation or gift, to say thanks for the Enkoder, for example, you would politely thank them and turn them down.

Of course back then you had a full-time job and a steady income-stream. Things are a bit different now.

There has been a recent resurgence of such emails — several a week, actually — and now you’ve been thinking, what’s the harm?
