The Fork

You met your friend at the Korean Restaurant yesterday for lunch. He was there before you, sitting at the table with his drink. At the Korean restaurant, chopsticks are the standard utensil.

waitress: (speaking to you) What do you want to drink?

you: Hot tea, please.

waitress: (in Korean) Ok, thank you.

friend: What did she say?

you: She said ok, thanks.

Time passes. Tea is brought to the table.

waitress: (in English) Hot kimchi mild kimchi?

you: Hot, please.

friend: What did she say?

you: She asked me if I wanted hot or mild kimchi.

Time passes. On her way by, the waitress gingerly places a fork on the table in front of your friend.

friend: How did she know I would need the fork?
