Not everything actually works as well as you think it does. In this case, it seems that the Anti-Spam JavaScript-Wrapping Email Address Encoder generated code that validated fine in XHTML 1.x but didn’t in HTML 4.01.

Doug (who also helped with the fix) pointed this out to Zeldman who is using the address encoder on his (HTML 4.01) pages. Zeldman made this known to me using his command over the forces of nature (earthquakes, blizzards, frogs from the sky).

This always gets my attention.

Thanks to both of you for your help discovering this problem, which has since been fixed.
