iLounge reviews the iPhone OS 3.0

The iPhone OS 3.0 will be available for download later today. In case you’re not sure if it’s worth installing, this walk-through by iLounge editor in chief Jeremy Horwitz offers a nice preview of the features along with many nice screenshots. Horwitz:

The brand new iPhone OS 3.0 doesn’t initially seem to have a single home run feature — many users will remember it as a consistent base hitter, or “the version that should have shipped with the first iPhone” — but it actually packs extremely significant under-the-hood improvements, some of which won’t be fully appreciated for weeks or months to come.

These days, I usually wait for the early-adopters to beta test OS releases, but features like MMS, voice memos, and cut/copy/paste make this release an instant-install for me.
